Gaming and more specifically esports, the spectator sport of professional video gaming, has exploded into the mainstream, leveraging off 2.6 billion engaged gamers globally.
Esports is experiencing explosive growth, with monthly viewership currently sitting at 161m spectators, and accelerating rapidly with 40% year on year growth.
With that comes a huge potential for delivering esports gaming products to the market. To date, an estimated, $5.5bn total in cash and items were staked by six million unique players across all gaming products in 2016. This is estimated to grow to $23bn staked by 19 million unique players in 2020, generating $1.81bn for operators worldwide.
